Battle Arena Toshinden is a 3D fighting game developed by Tamsoft and published in PAL territories by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Among the first fighting games to place fully polygonal characters in a three-dimensional environment, it served as a prominent PlayStation launch title and introduced a sidestep mechanic that pushed the genre into true 3D.
