Battle Arena Toshinden
SCES-00002
Initially Released 29 September 1995
Battle Arena Toshinden is a 3D fighting game developed by Tamsoft and published by Takara for the PlayStation, released as a launch title in Europe in September 1995. It was one of the earliest fighting games to feature polygonal characters in a 3D environment, and its sidestep mechanic was credited with helping push the genre toward true 3D gameplay.
The database currently catalogues two PAL variants, covering the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. Release types consist of an Original and a Platinum edition. The Original is presented in a Full Jewel PAL case with no hologram on the case, while the Platinum uses the smaller Mini Jewel Black Bordered PAL format with a hologram. Both releases contain a single English-language disc. No loose paperwork or bundled demos are documented across either variant.
As a PlayStation launch title with strong early recognition, Battle Arena Toshinden retains collector interest, particularly in its original pressing.
