WipEout is a futuristic anti-gravity racing game developed and published by Psygnosis, and a launch title for the PlayStation in Europe. Set in 2052, players race craft for four competing teams across a series of tracks, using weapons and power-ups to slow rivals. The game was notable for its striking graphic design by The Designers Republic and a soundtrack featuring acts including Leftfield, The Chemical Brothers, and Orbital. The PAL database catalogues three variants across two release types. Two original editions share the Full Jewel PAL and Multiway Jewel One Disk case formats respectively, both without a hologram on the case, with UK-only distribution. A Platinum budget reissue, released March 1997, uses the Mini Jewel Black Bordered PAL case with a hologram on the case, distributed across the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Netherlands. All releases are English-language and single-disc, with no loose paperwork documented. The original UK launch editions, particularly the Multiway Jewel format, carry strong collector appeal given the game’s iconic status.
