Star Gladiator: Episode I: Final Crusade, Capcom’s first polygonal fighting game, brought weapon-based 3D combat to the PlayStation in a port of its ZN-1 arcade original. This Original release covers the UK, France, Italy, and Spain under serial SLES-00495, released on 6 December 1996. It is a single-disc Full Jewel PAL release in English, with no hologram on the case. The case carries a prominent round yellow sticker reading ‘From the makers of Resident Evil’, a marketing call-out capitalising on Capcom’s then-recent survival horror success. Two PAL variants are catalogued, with this four-country pressing distinct from the German edition by its EAN barcode and English-language Resident Evil sticker wording. A tidy variant study for Capcom PAL collectors.
