Ridge Racer

Ridge Racer is Namco’s celebrated arcade racing title, ported to the PlayStation as a European launch game in September 1995. This variant is the Platinum budget re-release, issued on 1 March 1997, and was distributed across Italy, Germany, France, the UK, Netherlands, and Spain.

Presented in the smaller Mini Jewel Black Bordered PAL case format, this release carries a hologram on the case and contains a single English-language disc. No loose paperwork or case stickers are documented for this variant, and no bundled demo was included.

The Platinum label was Sony’s budget re-release programme for successful titles, making Ridge Racer more accessible to a wider audience. Platinum pressings of early launch titles are common finds but remain a solid part of any PAL PS1 collection.
