Rally Cross 2 Launch Release (France)

Rally Cross 2 is an off-road racing sequel developed by Idol Minds and published by 989 Studios, with Sony Computer Entertainment publishing the game across Europe. Players tackle eight tracks in a choice of ten vehicles, with visible damage and mud effects courtesy of a new 3D engine.

This is the French Original release, serial SCES-01631, dated 10 November 1998. It uses a Full Jewel PAL case and a single disc, and the only language is English. The EAN barcode is 0711719771524, which is what sets it apart from the German, UK and shared Central European pressings of the same serial.

It is one of four PAL variants catalogued for the game. For collectors, a French-market copy of an English-language disc is a nice illustration of how Sony distributed one master across several territories, and the barcode is worth photographing when you list or log a copy.
