PaRappa the Rapper: The Hip Hop Hero

PaRappa the Rapper is a rhythm game developed by NanaOn-Sha and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, considered the originator of the rhythm game genre. Players guide PaRappa through a series of rap lessons, pressing button combinations in time with each teacher’s prompts to progress.

This continental European Original release carries serial SCES-00743 and was distributed across France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy. It comes in the Full Jewel PAL case with a single disc supporting English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Released on 1 September 1997, it is one of two PAL variants. Research notes indicate this version includes the manual in booklet format, in contrast to the UK pressing’s poster-format manual, a notable physical distinction for collectors. The continental pressing is somewhat harder to locate than the UK version outside France or Germany.
