NHL 97 is an ice hockey simulation developed by Visual Concepts and published by EA Sports, the sixth entry in EA’s NHL franchise and the first to appear simultaneously on PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Germany received a dedicated country-serial Original release separate from the UK edition. This German Original carries serial SLES-00533 and was released on 10 November 1996. It is a single-disc Full Jewel PAL release in German, with no hologram on the case. Among the two PAL variants catalogued for NHL 97, this German pressing carries its own unique serial and EAN barcode, making it clearly distinct from the UK SLES-00492 edition. The German release features German-language content in contrast to the English-only UK variant.
