NBA Jam Extreme Promo (UK)

NBA Jam Extreme is a 3D basketball game developed by Sculptured Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment, based on the 1996-97 NBA season and featuring Marv Albert on commentary. It was the first Jam title from Acclaim.

This UK variant is a Promo release, dated 29 November 1996, and what sets it apart is the Rental Case in place of the usual Full Jewel PAL case. It has no hologram, contains a single disc and is English language only. The EAN barcode, 3455192107056, matches that of the standard Original release, so the case format and release type are the main ways to tell the two apart.

Rental and promotional copies tend to be less commonly preserved than retail ones, as they were handled heavily and often discarded. For collectors, this makes the Promo version a more unusual find than the Original, and a good way to add some variety to a collection of mid-nineties Acclaim releases.
