Grand Theft Auto Launch Release (UK)

Grand Theft Auto is the first game in the series, a top-down open-world action title developed by DMA Design and published by BMG Interactive Entertainment. Players take on missions across three cities to build their criminal reputation.

This is the UK Original release, dated 14 December 1997, making it one of the earliest PAL pressings of the game. It is supplied in a Full Jewel PAL case with a Hologram B and contains a single disk. The disk offers English, French, German and Italian language options, and the EAN barcode is 0768964239521.

A useful identifying detail comes from the research notes, which record that the disk logo text is white. This is worth checking when comparing it with later reprints, where the logo colour changes. As the first UK pressing from BMG Interactive, it is the natural starting point for anyone assembling the full run of UK releases for this title.
