Formula One 99
Formula One 99 is the fourth instalment in Psygnosis’ FIA-licensed Formula One series, developed by Studio 33 and based on the 1999 Formula One World Championship. During production Sony Computer Entertainment acquired Psygnosis, making this the final Formula One title released by Psygnosis as an independent label.
This is the sole catalogued PAL variant of this serial group, dated 10 March 2000, shipping as a single-disc release. The disc supports a slightly unusual language combination of English, Finnish, and Spanish, suggesting a Nordic-and-Iberian export pressing distinct from the main four-country SCES-01979# variant range. Disc serial SCES-02222 anchors this pressing. Country detail, case type, hologram type, and EAN barcode all remain open research items and are flagged for verification. The Finnish-and-Spanish language pairing is rare for racing titles of the period, making this an unusually interesting variant for collectors documenting Sony’s regional export strategies.
