Worms

Worms is a turn-based 2D artillery strategy game developed by Team17 Software and published by Ocean. Players command a team of worms and use an outlandish arsenal of weapons to wipe out rival teams, with support for up to 16 players sharing a single console.

The earliest PAL release is dated 10 December 1995, and six variants are catalogued across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Release types include the Original, a Reprint, Platinum, and two Infogrames-branded issues, Best Of Infogrames and Value Series Best of Infogrames. These reflect the game’s later move to Infogrames, which reprinted it as a standard black label release.

Packaging shows an interesting change over time. The earliest Original pressing uses a Multiway Jewel One Disk case, while a second Original and all later issues use the Full Jewel PAL case. Hologram B and No Hologram cases are both documented. Every variant holds a single disk, and the language is English only.

For collectors, the mix of Ocean and Infogrames branding makes this a satisfying title to follow, and the case change between two Original pressings is a detail worth checking on any early copy.
