World Cup 98

World Cup 98 is a football video game developed by EA Canada and published by Electronic Arts under their EA Sports label, the first official FIFA World Cup game produced by EA Sports following the company obtaining the rights from FIFA in 1997. The game used a 3D engine and accurate national team kits with manufacturer branding, building on the engine from FIFA: Road to World Cup 98. Seven PAL variants are catalogued across five serials. The UK and Netherlands share SLES-01265, with France receiving a distinct Enhanced Edition on SLES-01266 featuring a holographic front cover. Germany, Italy, and Spain each carry individual serials. All releases are in Full Jewel PAL cases carrying a Hologram A on the case, released on 22 May 1998. EA Sports Consumerlink Registration Cards and France 98 holographic rectangular stickers are documented across the set, making complete examples with both inserts particularly sought after.
