War Gods

War Gods is a 3D fighting game originally developed and published by Midway for arcades in 1996, subsequently ported to PlayStation and Nintendo 64 by Eurocom Developments and published in PAL territories by Midway Home Entertainment in 1997. Players control one of ten warriors who have been granted superhuman power by a mysterious ore that crashed to Earth from outer space. The game was heavily influenced by Midway’s Mortal Kombat series, sharing similar controls and fatality mechanics, and features a distinctive orbiting camera and digital skin technology for its character models. Only one PAL variant has been catalogued, a broad six-country Original pressing covering the UK, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and Italy in a Full Jewel PAL case with a Hologram A on the case, released in October 1997. The game received mixed reviews, but the single-variant PAL release with wide distribution makes it a clear and uncomplicated entry for collectors.
