V2000, also known as Virus 2000, is a 3D space shooter developed by Frontier Developments and published by Grolier Interactive, released in 1998 for both PlayStation and PC. It is the sequel to Zarch, also known as Virus, originally developed by David Braben. Players pilot a spacecraft to destroy mutated creatures and alien hives across various worlds, with objectives centred on protecting local inhabitants and collecting weapon upgrades, earning trophies for swift completions. Braben designed the sequel to be less punishing than the original. Only one PAL variant has been catalogued, a UK-only Original release from October 1998 in a Full Jewel PAL case with a Hologram A on the case, supporting five languages. The Frontier Developments and David Braben connection gives this title some notable pedigree in the context of British game development history.
