This Is Football

This Is Football is a 1999 association football simulation developed by London Studio (also credited as Team Soho) and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe for the PlayStation, the first entry in the This Is Football series. The game features a FIFPro licence covering 30,000 real players and English commentary from Clive Tyldesley. It was released only in Europe and Australia, and is known under different names in some regions, including This Is Soccer in Australia and localised titles in France and elsewhere.

Ten PAL variants are catalogued across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Australia, spanning original, Enhanced Edition, and Special Bundle release types. Most variants are in Full Jewel PAL cases with a hologram on the case on a single disc, though the Australian release uses a Standard CD Jewel case. Language coverage includes Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Several variants carry notable distinguishing features: the French Enhanced Edition is a special limited box set including an audio CD, VHS tape, and 12 photographs; the UK and Germany Special Bundle editions were packaged with a PlayStation Multi Tap; and the German original has a round white case sticker referencing Champions League and EURO 2000 sponsorship. The earliest PAL release was 10 December 1999.
