Test Drive 4x4

Test Drive 4x4 is an off-road racing game published by Accolade for the PlayStation and Windows PC. It was co-developed by Accolade’s internal team and Pitbull Syndicate, and it was released in North America as Test Drive Off-Road 2. It is part of the long-running Test Drive series.

Three PAL variants are catalogued, all Original releases, with the earliest dated 1998-09-30. They cover the UK, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, and the language listing is English, French and German across the set. Every edition uses the Full Jewel PAL case, contains a single disc and carries Hologram A on the case. The variants are split into a UK edition, a German edition and a combined Italy and Netherlands edition, each with its own barcode.

All three share one serial, so the barcodes and country listings are what tell them apart. That makes this a neat title for collectors who enjoy the small regional distinctions in PAL packaging.

As a late 1990s racer with an unusual dual naming history, it is an interesting piece of the Test Drive family, and a full set of three is a very achievable target.
