Tempest X3
SLES-00316
Initially Released 10 February 1997
Tempest X3 is a tube shooter developed by High Voltage Software and published by Interplay, a PlayStation port of the acclaimed Atari Jaguar title Tempest 2000, itself a remake of the original 1981 arcade game. Players control a claw-shaped craft crawling around the edge of geometric tube-like constructs, shooting enemies that advance from the depths of the void. The PAL release arrived on 10 February 1997.
One variant is currently catalogued in the database, covering Spain, the UK, France, and Germany. The release comes in a Multiway Jewel One Disk case with no hologram on the case, contains a single disc, and is an English-only release. No loose paperwork or bundled demo discs have been documented. As the sole catalogued PAL variant of a well-regarded arcade shooter conversion, Tempest X3 is of moderate collector interest, particularly for those tracing the lineage of Atari-to-PlayStation ports from the mid-1990s.
