SCES-00034
Initially Released 15 February 1996
Starblade Alpha is Namco’s PlayStation port of their 1991 arcade rail shooter, adapted from the System 21 hardware original and enhanced with a new mode featuring fully textured models. Players pilot the FX-01 GeoSword starfighter in a first-person on-rails battle against the alien UIMS forces threatening Earth.
The database currently catalogues one PAL variant, an Original release distributed across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, and Norway, dated 15 February 1996. This single pressing is presented in a Multiway Jewel One Disk case with no hologram on the case and contains a single English-language disc. Documented loose paperwork includes the Namco 0001 Single Sided insert and a Thin Flyer. No case stickers or bundled demos are recorded.
As a single-variant Namco rail shooter from the mid-1990s with broad European distribution, Starblade Alpha is a reasonably accessible find, particularly for collectors completing the early Namco PlayStation catalogue.
