Star Gladiator: Episode I: Final Crusade is a weapon-based 3D fighting game developed and published by Capcom, originally released in arcades in 1996 on the PlayStation-based ZN-1 hardware. It was Capcom’s first polygonal fighting game, released a few months before Street Fighter EX. The PlayStation port followed in October 1996. Two PAL variants are catalogued, both Original pressings in Full Jewel PAL cases without holograms, released in December 1996. One covers the UK, France, Italy, and Spain, while a separate German pressing carries its own EAN barcode. Both variants carry a distinctive round yellow case sticker reading ‘From the makers of Resident Evil’, with the German pressing using a German-language version of the sticker. A game of significant development history as Capcom’s first step into 3D polygon fighters, and an interesting PAL variant study given the sticker differentiation.
