Skullmonkeys is a 1998 platform game developed by The Neverhood, Inc. and published by Electronic Arts, a sequel to the acclaimed clay animation adventure The Neverhood. Abandoning the adventure game format, Skullmonkeys is a 2D platformer in which Klaymen must battle Klogg’s army of clay creatures across seven worlds and ninety levels. Composer Terry Scott Taylor returns from the first game, and the soundtrack drew particular praise from reviewers. Seven PAL variants are catalogued, released from 20 February 1998 and covering the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the Middle East. UK, France, and Germany each received dedicated serials, while other territories were grouped across shared SLES-01090 pressings. All known variants use Full Jewel PAL cases on single discs with Hologram A stickers. The wide variety of regional editions makes Skullmonkeys one of the more expansive PAL collecting propositions in the EA catalogue of this period.
