Shadow Madness is a 1999 fantasy role-playing game developed by Craveyard Studios and published in PAL regions by Crave Entertainment in partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. The game uses 3D polygonal models on pre-rendered 2D backgrounds with random turn-based battles in fully 3D environments, and was developed by ex-Square staff led by translator Ted Woolsey, lending it a particular cult interest in JRPG collecting circles. The PAL physical landscape covers five language-specific master serials, SCES-02099 through SCES-02103, each issued as an Original on a single disc. Languages are split English on 02099, French on 02100, German on 02101, Italian on 02102 and Spanish on 02103. Country of distribution, case type and hologram are not currently documented for any of the five pressings and physical research is ongoing across the set. As a PAL-region western RPG built by ex-Square staff and rarely encountered intact, Shadow Madness is a meaningful target for serious JRPG-adjacent collectors.
