Samurai Shodown III

Samurai Shodown III is a weapon-based 2D fighting game developed by SNK and published in PAL regions by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. The third entry in the series marked a deliberate tonal shift, with darker aesthetics, a redesigned cast, and the removal of lighter characters from earlier installments in favour of a more serious, gritty presentation. Two PAL variants are catalogued, both under serial SCES-00563 and released on 1 March 1997, covering the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Italy. All releases use a Mini Jewel Black Bordered PAL case in English, with holograms on the cases. The two variants are divided by territory grouping, with a UK and core European release alongside a Netherlands and Italy pressing, making a complete set straightforward for most PAL collectors to assemble.
