Robotron X
SLES-00539
Initially Released 1 March 1997
Robotron X is a 3D multidirectional shooter developed by Player1 in collaboration with Leland Interactive Media and published by Midway Games, a three-dimensional reimagining of the classic 1982 dual-stick arcade shooter Robotron: 2084. The PAL version was distributed by GT Interactive Software. Players guide Ugene through one hundred levels, battling the Robotron hordes to protect the last surviving human family. A Nintendo 64 version followed in 1998 as Robotron 64. Only one PAL variant has been catalogued, a broad six-country Original pressing covering the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands in a Full Jewel PAL case without a hologram, released in March 1997. The title carries inherent collector interest as a modernisation of a beloved arcade classic, and the single-variant PAL release is a straightforward entry in the PAL action-shooter catalogue.
