SCES-00394
Initially Released 1 October 1997
Rapid Racer, known as Turbo Prop Racing in North America, is a motorboat racing game developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Studio Soho and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe for the PlayStation. Players race across six tracks in increasingly challenging conditions, with the ability to unlock mirrored and night versions of each course by winning championships. The soundtrack was composed by Apollo Four Forty.
One PAL variant is catalogued, a UK-exclusive release presented in a Full Jewel PAL case with a hologram on the case. It contains a single disc with language support for English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. The earliest PAL release date is 1 October 1997.
This variant carries a round yellow ‘Analog Controller Compatible’ case sticker, a useful detail for collectors. No loose paperwork or bundled demo discs have been documented. As a first-party Sony title with UK-only PAL distribution, Rapid Racer is a modestly uncommon find outside the UK secondhand market.
