Rally Cross 2

Rally Cross 2 is an off-road racing game developed by Idol Minds and published by 989 Studios in North America, with Sony Computer Entertainment handling the European release. It is the sequel to Rally Cross from 1997 and introduced a new 3D engine with visible damage and effects such as reflections and mud sticking to the vehicles. Eight tracks, ten vehicles and modes including Single Race, Season, Time Trial and Practice make up the package.

On the PAL side, the database catalogues four variants, all Original releases dating from 10 November 1998, the earliest PAL release on record. Pressings were sold in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, and every copy carries English as its only language, so no localised text separates the countries.

Physically the releases are consistent: each one uses a Full Jewel PAL case and holds a single disc.

For collectors, the interest lies in the regional EAN barcodes, which let you tell apart pressings that otherwise look almost identical on the shelf. It is an inexpensive title, but a complete country set is a tidy and achievable target.
