Rage Racer
SCES-00650
Initially Released 1 June 1997
Rage Racer is a racing game developed and published by Namco, the fifth instalment in the Ridge Racer series and the third on the PlayStation. The game introduced a class-based Grand Prix progression system, a CGI animated introduction, and the series mascot Reiko Nagase, adopting a darker visual tone than its predecessors. Two PAL variants are catalogued, both under serial SCES-00650 and released on 1 June 1997, covering the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Italy. All releases use Full Jewel PAL cases with holograms on the cases, in English on a single disc. A round, black-and-gold case sticker reading “94%” is documented on both variants. The two variants are divided between the UK, France and Germany grouping and the Netherlands and Italy pairing, each with a distinct EAN barcode.
