Pool Hustler
SLES-01688
Initially Released 9 November 1999
Pool Hustler is a billiards simulation developed by Ornith and published by Activision, known in Japan as Dokyu: Billiard Master and in some European markets as Pool Palace. Players work through six shady pool halls against 12 underground champions, with 8-Ball, 9-Ball, 14-1 and Rotation rules, a lesson mode, 30 trick shots and a wagering system. A sequel, Q-Ball: Billiards Master, followed on PlayStation 2.
One variant is catalogued in the PAL range, an Original release with the earliest date recorded as 9 November 1999. A single edition covers the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, using a Full Jewel PAL case and one disk, with English as the only language. Because one pressing served five countries, there is little variation to chase within the PAL range.
For collectors, Pool Hustler is a modest but dependable entry, and its alternative European name can cause confusion when searching listings. It is not a hard title to recieve through the usual marketplaces, though copies with a clean case and intact hologram sticker are less common than loose disks.
