Philosoma

Philosoma is a vertical scrolling shooter developed by G-Artists and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, released in PAL territories in March 1996 following its earlier Japanese and North American releases. Players pilot a spacecraft through 18 stages of deep space combat, selecting from four main weapon types including Vulcan, Laser, A-Break, and Ray-B, each upgradeable through power-up collection.

The database currently catalogues one PAL variant, an Original release distributed across the UK, France, and Germany, dated 1 March 1996. This single pressing is presented in a Full Jewel PAL case with no hologram on the case and contains a single disc with English, French, and German language support. No loose paperwork, case stickers, or bundled demos are documented.

Philosoma received mediocre reviews at launch, but as an early Sony-published shooter from the PlayStation’s first year in Europe it attracts interest among those collecting the broader launch-era Sony first-party catalogue.
