NHL Powerplay 98
SLES-00418
Initially Released 22 May 1998
NHL Powerplay 98 is an ice hockey game developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Virgin Interactive, released for PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and PC in 1997. The game features all NHL teams plus several Olympic teams, with detailed polygonal player models, realistic animations, and a Versus mode for head-to-head play.
One PAL variant is currently catalogued, covering a broad footprint of the UK, France, Germany, Finland, and Sweden, reflecting the sport’s stronger presence in Scandinavian and northern European markets. The release is presented in a Full Jewel PAL case with a hologram on the case, and contains a single disc with language support for English, French, and German. The earliest PAL release date is 22 May 1998.
No loose paperwork or bundled demo discs have been documented. The inclusion of Finland and Sweden alongside the UK and core Western European territories is a notable aspect of this release’s geographical reach, and makes it a straightforward but regionally interesting single-variant title for PAL collectors.
