NHL FaceOff 98 is an ice hockey game developed by Killer Game and published in PAL territories by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, part of the long-running NHL FaceOff series. Notable as the first entry in the series to use polygonal player models rather than sprite-based graphics, it represented a technical step forward for the franchise. Three PAL variants are catalogued, released from 10 April 1998, covering the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands across single disc Full Jewel PAL releases. All documented variants are presented in English. The three pressings follow the typical Sony SCEE pattern of a UK-specific pressing, a Germany-specific pressing, and a broader continental European edition. A niche title outside North America given the limited ice hockey audience in PAL territories, but a solid entry in Sony’s first-party sports catalogue.
