Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit, released in Europe simply as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, is a 1998 racing game developed by EA Canada for PlayStation and EA Seattle for Windows, published by Electronic Arts. The third major entry in the Need for Speed series, it significantly expanded the police pursuit element as a core feature, with improved AI utilising roadblocks, helicopters, and spike strips. The game was released for PlayStation in March 1998 and received critical success, particularly for its graphics and car selection. Three PAL variants are catalogued, released from 15 April 1998 and covering the UK, Germany, and Spain on single disc Full Jewel PAL cases with Hologram B stickers. Language support is broad across English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Swedish. An EA Consumerlink Registration Card has been documented as loose paperwork in the UK and German editions. A well-regarded entry in the series with a collector-friendly registration card for complete copies.
