Music 2000
SLES-02224
Initially Released 30 November 1999
Music 2000, known in North America as MTV Music Generator, is a music sequencer and creation tool developed by Jester Interactive and published by Codemasters. It is the sequel to 1998’s Music and was followed by MTV Music Generator 2 in 2001. The application allows players to compose and arrange tracks using a sample-based interface, exporting audio for personal use.
The PAL landscape comprises two catalogued variants covering the UK market, with the earliest PAL release dated 30 November 1999. Both variants share disc serial SLES-02224, with the No 1 Bestseller Codemasters reissue marking the title’s promotion into the publisher’s budget range following its initial commercial run. Language coverage on the disc is English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
The No 1 Bestseller Codemasters reissue ships in a Full Jewel PAL case as a single-disc release. Loose paperwork has been documented including the Manual Registration Card specific to Music 2000. Case type and hologram type for the original pressing remain open research items in the database. A genuinely interesting historical software release given its hybrid game-or-tool position.
