Michael Owen's World League Soccer '99
SLES-01594
Initially Released 15 November 1998
Michael Owen’s World League Soccer ‘99 is an association football game developed by Silicon Dreams Studio and published by Eidos Interactive, endorsed by then-emerging Liverpool striker Michael Owen. The game is the direct sequel to World League Soccer ‘98 and was followed by the more polished Michael Owen’s WLS 2000.
The PAL landscape consists of a single catalogued variant covering the UK market only, with the earliest PAL release dated 15 November 1998. Despite the limited territorial spread, the disc supports trilingual coverage of English, French, and Italian, making this UK release effectively playable across multiple western European markets without language barrier.
The catalogued variant ships in a Full Jewel PAL case as a single-disc release. Single-territory PAL releases are comparatively unusual for football titles of this era, with most rivals receiving broader pan-European pressings. The narrow distribution makes this title a reasonably scarce pickup for collectors building out the late nineties Eidos sports catalogue, while the celebrity endorsement gives it additional period interest.
