MDK

MDK is a third-person shooter in which janitor Kurt Hectic must save the Earth from giant alien strip-mining vehicles called Minecrawlers, armed with a sniper helmet and a parachute. The game began life on PC at Shiny Entertainment, and the PlayStation version was ported by Neversoft and published in Europe by Interplay.

Two PAL variants are catalogued, both Original releases, with the earliest dated 1997-11-10. Together they cover the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, and the languages are English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Both use the Full Jewel PAL case with a single disc and carry Hologram A on the case. One edition covers the UK, France and Germany, and the other covers the UK, Italy and Spain, so they are separated mainly by their barcodes and regional listings.

One documented piece of loose paperwork is worth noting, a Rock & Roll Racing 2 Red Asphalt leaflet, reference 035 LEA-PSX-329-E, which collectors may find tucked inside copies.

MDK is a distinctive and well-regarded title from the early PlayStation years, and the two multi-country editions make for an interesting pair to compare.
