Judge Dredd
SLES-00755
Initially Released 1 November 1997
Judge Dredd is a light gun arcade rail-shooter developed and published by Gremlin Interactive in 1997, based on the 2000 AD comic rather than the 1995 film. Players take on the role of Dredd as he battles through stages to rescue the mayor from an escaped ex-judge and his android army. The game was published by Gremlin in Europe and Activision in North America.
Two PAL variants have been catalogued, both Original releases in Full Jewel PAL cases with a single English-language disc and a release date of 1 November 1997. Both share serial SLES-00755 but carry different EAN barcodes, with one covering a broad range of European territories and a second covering a slightly different territory grouping. The game received overwhelmingly negative reviews on release, criticised for its targeting and difficulty design.
Despite its poor critical reception, Judge Dredd has collector appeal as a light gun title and Gremlin release from the peak Tomb Raider era of Eidos-adjacent publishing. The two-variant PAL set is straightforward to complete.
