Jonah Lomu Rugby
SLES-00377
Initially Released 31 March 1997
Jonah Lomu Rugby is a rugby union game developed by Rage Software and published by Codemasters in 1997, released for MS-DOS, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn. Named after the legendary All Blacks winger, it was the first rugby union game released on the Saturn or PlayStation platforms, and features 32 teams, five game modes, and commentary from Bill McLaren and Bill Beaumont.
Three PAL variants are catalogued. Two are UK pressings sharing serial SLES-00377, differentiated by their cover design: one version lacks the Rage Software credit on the front bottom left corner, while the other includes it and also features a round gold ‘9 out of 10 The Best Rugby Game’ case sticker. A third variant is a French edition carrying a separate serial. All three are presented in the distinctive Mini Jewel Black Bordered PAL case format, with language coverage including English, German, Italian, and Spanish, plus French on the French edition. Hologram types include No Hologram for the UK editions and Hologram B for the French release. The earliest PAL release date is 31 March 1997.
The subtle cover difference between the two UK editions makes Jonah Lomu Rugby a rewarding title for detail-focused collectors.
