Hellnight
SLES-01562
Initially Released 11 June 1998
Hellnight, known in Japan as Dark Messiah, is a first-person survival horror game developed by Dennou Eizou Seisakusho and published by Atlus in collaboration with Konami in 1998. Unlike most horror games of its era, Hellnight features no combat; instead, the player must constantly flee from an indestructable creature through labyrinthine underground environments while protecting a companion character named Naomi.
Three PAL variants are catalogued, covering the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands, all as original releases in Full Jewel PAL cases on a single disc. Language support spans English, French, and German. The game was not released in North America, making PAL copies the primary avenue for non-Japanese players to experience it, which adds to its collector appeal. The earliest PAL release was 11 June 1998.
