Formula 1

SLES-00298
Initially Released 15 September 1996

Formula 1 is a racing game developed by Bizarre Creations and published by Psygnosis, the first entry in the studio’s Formula One series. Based on the 1995 Formula One World Championship, the game features the full grid of drivers and circuits from that season, with Murray Walker providing commentary. The PAL release arrived on 15 September 1996.

Three variants are currently catalogued in the database, covering France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. Two original editions are documented, distinguished by territory groupings and EAN barcodes, both in Full Jewel PAL cases with no hologram on the case. A Platinum budget reissue exists for the UK, presented in a Full Jewel PAL case with a hologram on the case. All releases are single-disk editions with English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish language content. No loose paperwork or bundled demos have been documented across any variant. Formula 1 remains one of the more recognisable early PAL PlayStation racing titles, and both the original and Platinum editions are regularly encountered by collectors.
