Floating Runner: Quest for the 7 Crystals is a 3D platform game published by THQ and developed by Kokopeli Digital Studios, set in a fantasy world invaded by the villain Zaurer. Players take control of either Cress or Lay across fourteen levels spanning seven themed environments, collecting crystals and defeating enemies. The game launched in Japan in January 1996 as one of the earliest 3D platformers available on PlayStation. Only one PAL variant has been catalogued, a multi-country Original pressing covering the UK, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain released in November 1996, housed in a Full Jewel PAL case without a hologram. Reviews of the period were mixed, with the game praised for its early 3D platforming ambitions but criticised for comparison to stronger contemporaries. A single-variant PAL release of an early Japanese 3D platformer, of some interest to collectors of complete THQ PlayStation catalogues.
