Game Description

Crash Bandicoot test description for layout verification.

Crash Bandicoot is a 1996 platform game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, following the genetically enhanced bandicoot Crash as he battles the mad scientist Neo Cortex across a series of inventive third-person levels. The game became a defining title for the PlayStation and established Crash as one of the console’s most recognisable characters.

Three PAL variants are currently catalogued, all UK-specific releases. Two are Original editions, one in a standard Full Jewel PAL case and one in the less common Multiway Jewel Two Disk format, both without a hologram on the case. The third is a Platinum budget reissue in a Full Jewel PAL case with a hologram on the case. All releases are single-disc and in English. The original editions are particularly notable for including a Psygnosis Sony Summer Autumn 97 Software Catalogue as loose paperwork, and some copies carry a round yellow and grey ‘FREE DEMO CD’ case sticker, with the Autumn/Christmas Releases demo disc bundled inside.

The Crash Bandicoot PAL variants are essential for any serious UK PS1 collector, with the Multiway Jewel Two Disk original being especially sought after for its distinctive packaging format.
