Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back is a platform game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, the direct sequel to the original Crash Bandicoot. Players collect 25 crystals across 25 levels to fulfil a seemingly helpful mission from Crash’s nemesis, Doctor Neo Cortex. PAL collectors will find six catalogued variants across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. Notably, the title appeared in both Full Jewel PAL and Mini Jewel Black Bordered PAL case formats. The UK and continental European groupings each have both case type variants documented, with the Mini Jewel pressing for the UK and a central European variant both including a multi-title PlayStation sampler demo disc. The UK Full Jewel pressing includes an Official PlayStation Magazine Guide as loose paperwork, as does the UK Mini Jewel variant. A Platinum re-release covers the full European territory in a Full Jewel PAL case. All releases carry a single disc. The earliest PAL release is dated 15 December 1997. The hologram types on the cases are unconfirmed.
