Contra: Legacy of War

Contra: Legacy of War is a third-person shooter developed by Appaloosa Interactive and published by Konami, marking the Contra series’ transition from 2D to 3D gameplay. The game was notable for being released with a pair of 3D anaglyph glasses supporting in-game 3D effects. In European and Australian markets, this was also historically significant as the first PAL console Contra release to retain the Contra name rather than the Probotector branding used in previous entries. One PAL variant is catalogued, covering the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands under serial SLES-00608, released on 13 March 1997. The release ships in a Full Jewel PAL case on a single disc in English, with no hologram on the case. As the first PAL Contra-branded console release, this pressing carries particular historical significance within the series’ European catalogue.
