Circuit Breakers
SLES-00753
Initially Released 15 July 1998
Circuit Breakers is a racing game developed by Supersonic Software and published by Mindscape, released in 1998 and serving as the sequel to Supersonic Racers. The game features over thirty roller-coaster-style tracks across eight three-dimensional worlds, with up to four-player local multiplayer. It is notably the first PlayStation title to receive expansion packs through demo discs distributed with the Official UK PlayStation Magazine.
Two PAL variants have been catalogued, covering the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Both are Original releases in Full Jewel PAL cases with a single disc each, supporting English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. A multi-territory pressing covering the UK, France, Germany, and Spain, and an Italy-specific pressing share serial SLES-00753 with distinct EAN barcodes. A PlayStation 2 remake was later released in Europe as Circuit Blasters in 2005.
Circuit Breakers holds specific historical interest as the OPM demo disc expansion pioneer. For collectors, both PAL variants are achievable, with the Italian pressing being slightly harder to find.
