Chessmaster II

Chessmaster II is a 1999 chess game developed by Starsphere Interactive and published in PAL regions by Mindscape, part of the long-running Chessmaster series of strategy board game adaptations. The PAL release offers 24 animated chess sets, 64 computer opponents at varying skill levels and 30 Grandmaster profiles to challenge, with 2D and 3D rendering options for the board. The PAL physical landscape consists of a single catalogued variant on SLES-02117 issued as an Original on a single English-language disc, covering the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. The pressing is housed in a Full Jewel PAL case with a hologram on the case and was released on 15 October 1999. As a strategy board adaptation rather than a typical action title, Chessmaster II tends to attract a different collector demographic than the rest of the PAL PSX library and is a useful component of any PSX strategy or board game-focused shelf.
