Bomberman

Bomberman on PlayStation is developed by Hudson Soft in collaboration with Metro and published in PAL territories by Virgin Interactive. The long-running Bomberman franchise, originally created by Hudson Soft, had been known in parts of Europe as Dyna Blaster in earlier releases. The PlayStation entry brought the series’ maze-based bomb-laying gameplay to the platform with updated presentation.

Nine PAL variants are catalogued, covering the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. All releases are in Full Jewel PAL cases with Hologram B on the case, with English as the sole language across all pressings on a single disc. Original pressings were released on 12 July 1999, with distinct barcodes per territory group. Two tiers of budget reissues followed: the White Label series and the Value Series White Label, both sharing barcodes with their respective territory original pressings. A Virgin Green Plus promotional voucher insert is documented as loose paperwork with the France/Germany/Netherlands White Label variant. The breadth of reissue tiers makes Bomberman on PS1 a detailed case study in Virgin Interactive’s late PlayStation budget label activity.
