Beatmania is a 1997 Konami rhythm game first developed for arcades and credited as the founding title of the wider Bemani music game franchise. The PlayStation home conversion uses a controller with seven keys and a turntable to simulate DJ performance and contributes substantially to the late-1990s music game boom. The PAL physical landscape consists of a single catalogued variant on SLES-02096 issued as an Original on a single English-language disc, dated 15 June 2000. Country of distribution, case type and hologram are not yet documented and require physical confirmation. As one of the few Beatmania titles ever released in PAL territories, the PSX edition holds particular interest for collectors of rhythm games and Konami specialty hardware tie-ins, since the controller-based gameplay is often only properly experienced with the corresponding peripheral. PAL Beatmania copies are noticeably scarcer than their North American or Japanese counterparts.
