Ace Combat 2 — PAL region PlayStation 1 game. 3 variants in database.

Ace Combat 2

SCES-00699
Initially Released 10 September 1997

Ace Combat 2 is a combat flight simulation game developed by Namco and published in Europe by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Players take the role of a mercenary pilot working to stop a global terrorist conspiracy, progressing through missions that reward success with credits to spend on upgrades and new aircraft.

Three PAL variants have been catalogued, covering an extensive range of territories including the UK, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Greece, Portugal, France, and Germany. All are Original releases presented in the Full Jewel PAL case format. A Namco Orange Single Leaflet for Ace Combat 2 has been documented as loose paperwork included with the primary multi-territory variant. Research notes suggest that the English-language pressing was likely the version shipped to the smaller European markets rather than localised editions existing for those territories.

The three variants are differentiated by country and serial: the broadest pressing covers the UK and Southern and Northern European territories, with separate serials for France and Germany. All carry holograms on the cases. Ace Combat 2 was a commercial and critical success globally, and PAL examples remain a solid find for aviation game collectors.
