Most games have one variant, and then there is a bump at five: the classic pattern of a separate release each for the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. The longest lists belong to games that were localised country by country and then reissued on budget labels.
Where they were sold
A variant can be sold in more than one country, so these add up to more than the total. 687 variants have no country recorded yet.
Languages
The most common combination is English only (1,687 variants), followed by English, French, German, Italian and Spanish together (741).
Release types
78.2% of variants are launch releases. The 1,109 re-releases break down like this:
Where the gaps are
- 978 of 1,109 re-releases have no release date, against 16 of the 3,975 launch releases.
- 4,614 variants have no front cover photo.
- 975 variants have no barcode number, 687 have no country and 494 have no case type.
